Does Your Heart Quiver When It Breaks?

Please consider helping this extremely talented individual create a solo album.

Don’t believe how talented he is? Listen to his vocals here, here and here and tell me that you were not equally parts aroused and moved. Interesting feeling, isn’t it?

But Keith Zarriello will always hold a special place in my heart because it brought me closer to someone quite lovely on tumblr. The Shivers, Keith’s band with the equally talented Jo Schornikow, were playing a free gig not too far from where I reside at university and I wanted someone to go with. A certain someone was looking for something new to listen to and I suggested The Shivers and they loved it and agreed to go with me to the gig.
The man can perform live.
A couple of songs I hadn’t played much on the album were now my absolute favourites because his performance had brought them to life with his beautiful voice.
It’s not just his talent I admire, he is such a kind individual, willing to give a slightly drunk 21 year old the time of day and take a picture saying hello to the guy who runs Animals Talking in all Caps because it was because of him that I was able to hear about The Shivers in the first place.

I’ll get to the point now.
He’s set up a Kickstarter fund (the link in the title)) asking for donations to fund his solo album and it currently stands at just under $2,500 with 20 days until it expires. I know this because I refresh it every day getting more and more worried that it may not make it into production so I’m asking you, my wonderful followers, to consider donating even just $1 to make sure it does.

Don’t do this because I told you to (unless you are like, way in love with me and under my spell and stuff, and will do whatever I tell you). Don’t do it because it’s a nice thing to do (unless you love doing nice things and that alone is enough reason to do it). Don’t do it because if you don’t a man will come and kill your family in the dead of night and disappear, never to be heard from again (but you might want to keep an eye on them, just in case).

Do it because Keith Zarriello is one of this country’s last perfect rock and roll men, and the music he makes is such a perfect mixture of grit and polish, blue-eyed soul and honest-to-God sentiment that to lose it would be a massive blow to what’s left of our great musical heritage. Do it because even though you might not know who the fuck he is, someday someone will put Phone Calls or Charades on the stereo at a party, or someone will slip ‘Beauty’ or ‘Borderline’ on a mixtape that makes its way to your hands, and you will have the extreme joy of discovering one of the most underrated crooners in all of NYC.

Or you could just download this Shivers mix I’m always trying to give people so you understand why donating is the best thing you can do with (at least) $10 today.
